What Zendesk is
Zendesk is an enterprise-grade help desk and contact-center platform: ticketing, live chat, voice/IVR, deep reporting, a huge app marketplace and AI agents. It's priced per agent, with Copilot available as an add-on and AI agents priced by successful outcome.
Where Zendesk wins
A full enterprise help desk: ticketing, voice/IVR/contact center, SLAs and deep reporting.
A huge app marketplace and integration ecosystem.
Proven at very large scale and in compliance-heavy industries.
AI agents are available across Support and Suite plans without a separate platform.
Where ConvChat wins
One published price per project — no per-agent seats, no $50/agent Copilot add-on and no per-outcome AI bill.
No automatic outcome overage: human chat continues beyond the published plan limit without automatic overage charges, while automated AI replies pause; Scale includes 20,000 conversations per project each month.
The AI/FAQ agent is included on Growth and Scale; Starter remains human-operated.
Far simpler and cheaper for live-chat-first teams that find Zendesk's stack and cost overkill.
Zendesk pricing, in plain terms
As of July 2026, Zendesk is billed per agent: Support Team starts at $19/agent/mo, while Suite Team is $55 and Suite Professional is $115 per agent/mo billed annually; enterprise pricing is sales-led. AI agents are included in Support and Suite plans but billed by successful outcome, while Copilot is a separate $50/agent/mo add-on.
Which should you choose?
Choose Zendesk
Pick Zendesk if you need a full enterprise ticketing and contact-center platform — voice/IVR, deep reporting, a large app ecosystem and proven scale.
Choose ConvChat
Pick ConvChat if Zendesk feels like overkill and its per-agent plus per-outcome cost is hard to predict. ConvChat gives you per-project live chat, a shared inbox and optional AI — note that some help-desk features are still on the roadmap.
ConvChat vs Zendesk — FAQ
Is ConvChat a Zendesk alternative?
For live-chat-first small and mid-sized teams, yes — ConvChat covers the widget and shared inbox from Starter, with AI on Growth and Scale, at a predictable per-project price. Zendesk remains the better choice for full enterprise ticketing, voice/contact-center and heavy reporting.
How much does Zendesk actually cost?
As of July 2026, Zendesk Suite Team is $55/agent/mo and Suite Professional is $115/agent/mo billed annually (Support Team starts at $19). Copilot is $50/agent/mo, and AI agents are billed by successful outcome. ConvChat starts at CHF 49 per project with unlimited agents; AI is included on Growth and Scale.
What changed in Zendesk's AI billing in 2026?
Since January 2026, Zendesk bills automated-resolution usage above your committed volume automatically as overage — with no cap and no warning before the charge. If AI usage spikes, the bill follows. ConvChat has no per-resolution metering, so there is no overage to bill.
Does ConvChat do full ticketing like Zendesk?
ConvChat offers a shared inbox with assignment and statuses, but not Zendesk's full enterprise ticketing, voice/IVR or contact-center suite. Some help-desk features (knowledge base, routing, roles & audit log) are on the ConvChat roadmap.
Does ConvChat charge per AI resolution?
No. ConvChat includes its AI agent on Growth and Scale with no per-resolution charge. Starter does not include automated AI. Zendesk bills AI agents by successful outcome.
Full disclosure: ConvChat is our product, so we’re not a neutral party — but every Zendesk figure here comes from public sources, current as of July 2026. Competitor pricing changes often; check their pricing page for the latest. ConvChat is a young product, and some features are still on the roadmap.
